Director Jeff Nichols is trading big-budget sets for the dusty trails of the Lone Star State. The filmmaker behind The Bikeriders and Mud has directed a 14-minute short film titled "Love Letter to Texas" for the Western lifestyle brand Tecovas. Starring Ryan Bingham as a character named Sam, the film serves as a cinematic tribute to the landscape rather than a traditional commercial. Nichols brings along his frequent collaborator and Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon, alongside Hassie Harrison, to round out the star-studded cast.

The project features narration by legendary actress Sissy Spacek, adding a layer of Texas royalty to the production. According to Marketing Dive, the brand is positioning the film as a "cultural investment" designed to deepen the connection between the audience and the heritage of the region. By moving away from short-form ads, Tecovas is betting on long-form storytelling to elevate its brand identity ahead of its 10th anniversary.

Fans won't have to wait long to see the collaboration. "Love Letter to Texas" is scheduled to premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, which kicks off on March 12. Following its festival debut, the film will be released to the general public on April 7 via the brand's digital platforms. The narrative focuses on themes of connection and the rugged beauty of the Texas terrain, anchored by the chemistry between the Yellowstone stars and Shannon.
