Ashlee Simpson is ready for a Studio 8H redemption. Following her recent victory as Galaxy Girl on Season 14 of the Fox hit The Masked Singer, the "Pieces of Me" singer expressed a strong desire to return to Saturday Night Live. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Simpson confirmed she would "definitely go back" to the sketch comedy series, signaling a potential full-circle moment for the pop star.
The singer's history with the show remains one of the most discussed chapters in live television. On October 23, 2004, a technical glitch during her performance revealed Simpson was lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track of "Pieces of Me" instead of her intended song, "Autobiography." After performing an impromptu jig and exiting the stage, Simpson faced intense public scrutiny. She later returned to the NBC show on October 8, 2005, to perform "Catch Me When I Fall" and "Boyfriend" in an effort to move past the incident.

Now, over twenty years later, Simpson tells Entertainment Weekly that she views the experience as a formative part of her career. "I can laugh about it now," she stated, noting that the pressure of the industry at a young age shaped her into the performer who just secured a win on The Masked Singer. With her vocal talents back in the spotlight, fans are waiting to see if executive producer Lorne Michaels will extend an invitation for a third musical guest appearance.
