The whimsical world of Montmartre is back on the big screen today. On April 3, 2026, the acclaimed French film Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain officially returns to cinemas to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Audiences can once again follow Audrey Tautou as the titular Amélie, a shy waitress who decides to change the lives of those around her through small, secret acts of kindness.
Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the film originally premiered in 2001 and became a global cultural phenomenon. It earned five Academy Award nominations and remains one of the most successful French-language films of all time. This limited engagement allows fans to experience the vibrant cinematography of Bruno Delbonnel and the iconic, accordion-heavy score by composer Yann Tiersen in a theatrical setting.
Screenings are scheduled at major venues and independent theaters throughout the region. According to Digital Cinema Media and Pearl & Dean, the film is playing at Picturehouse Cinemas, HOME in Manchester, and BFI Southbank in London. The Irish Examiner confirms that cinemas across Ireland are also participating in the anniversary event, bringing the cult classic back to a new generation of moviegoers.
