CBS is making major changes to its lineup. On Friday, March 27, the network officially canceled the Morris Chestnut-led medical drama Watson after two seasons. Joining it on the chopping block is the freshman workplace comedy DMV, which will not return for a second season. Both decisions come as the network prepares for its upcoming fall schedule.
Watson, which offered a modern medical twist on the classic Sherlock Holmes character, saw a significant decline in traditional broadcast ratings during its sophomore run. Fans of the series can catch the final episode on Sunday, May 3. The show initially premiered to strong numbers, but CBS executives ultimately decided the viewership trend did not justify a third season.
The sitcom DMV is also facing a premature end. Starring Tim Meadows, the comedy struggled to maintain its audience across streaming and cable platforms after its initial launch. The series finale is scheduled to air on Monday, May 11. These cancellations highlight a rigorous standard at CBS for multi-platform performance as the television landscape continues to shift.
