David Cross is giving fans a peek behind the curtain. In the latest "25 Things You Don't Know About Me" feature for Us Weekly, the 61-year-old actor shared several surprising details about his life and career. From his humble beginnings to his current family life, the comedian didn't hold back on the signature humor that made him a household name as Tobias Fünke on Arrested Development.
When asked about his "celebrity hall pass," Cross gave a sweet and unexpected answer, naming his wife of 14 years, actress and author Amber Tamblyn. The couple, who married in 2012 and share a daughter named Marlow Alice, first met on a flight from Houston to Louisiana in 2007. Cross also revealed that his inner circle includes heavy hitters in the comedy world, noteable for listing writer Bill Odenkirk as one of the most famous people in his phone's contact list.
The interview also touched on some less-than-glamorous moments from his past. Before he found fame, Cross worked as a dishwasher at an Italian restaurant called Provino's in Atlanta. He also recounted a cringeworthy 2004 stand-up performance where he fell off a five-foot-high stage in front of 3,000 people. Fans can currently see Cross in his latest role as Sy Grossman in the fourth and final season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy.
