Dolby Laboratories and Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) have officially launched a new era for mobile listeners. The companies announced a partnership to bring the next evolution of Dolby Atmos technology to the QQ Music app. This collaboration makes QQ Music the first major music streaming platform to integrate these specific advancements powered by Dolby AC-4.
The update is designed specifically to enhance the headphone experience for millions of mobile users. By utilizing the Dolby AC-4 system, the platform promises improved fidelity, clarity, and precision in every track. Jeff Wong, Vice President of TME, noted that this move allows the company to push the boundaries of how fans connect with their favorite artists through immersive spatial audio.
This isn't the first time these giants have teamed up. Since their initial partnership began in 2022, TME and Dolby have worked to expand high-quality audio access across China. John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, stated that this latest evolution ensures music fans get a "best-in-class" experience that captures the nuances of a studio recording directly on their smartphones.
