A24 has officially unveiled a haunting new trailer for Backrooms, the feature-length adaptation of the viral YouTube horror phenomenon. Directed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons, the film expands on the eerie "liminal space" aesthetic that turned his original web series into a digital sensation. This latest look follows a brief teaser released in late February, leaning heavily into the found-footage style that defined Parsons' early work.

The new footage provides a closer look at lead stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve as they navigate the endless, fluorescent-lit hallways of the mysterious dimension. The trailer showcases the film's signature yellow-walled maze and the psychological dread of being trapped in an infinite office space. Parsons, who was just a teenager when the original video debuted, is making his directorial debut on the project.

Produced in collaboration with James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps, the film has become one of the most anticipated horror releases of the year. A24 has confirmed that the nightmare will finally hit theaters on May 29, 2026. Fans of the original YouTube series have long awaited this professional expansion of the lore, which has already garnered hundreds of millions of views online.
