Ghostface is proving that the Scream franchise still has plenty of life at the box office. Since its release on February 27, 2026, Paramount Pictures’ Scream 7 has been a financial force to be reckoned with. The film is currently projected to surpass $107 million in domestic earnings by the conclusion of its third weekend on March 16, 2026. This puts the sequel within striking distance of the $108 million domestic total earned by its predecessor, Scream VI.
The road to this milestone began with a historic start for the series. Scream 7 secured a franchise-best opening weekend, raking in $63.6 million domestically. While Screen Rant reported that the film experienced a significant second-week drop, the initial momentum was strong enough to push the project 36% past its break-even point. According to Koimoi, this surge has officially turned the latest installment into a solid win for the studio.
Despite the commercial success, the film has faced a polarizing reception. io9 noted that Scream 7 broke box office records even while receiving some of the franchise's lowest critical reviews to date. However, the numbers suggest audiences are still eager for the horror series. As of mid-March, Scream 7 remains a top performer in theaters, competing for audience attention alongside Disney/Pixar’s Hoppers.
