The mouse house has a new leader. The Walt Disney Company announced that Josh DâAmaro, currently the Chairman of Disney Experiences, will officially step into the role of Chief Executive Officer on March 18, 2026. He succeeds Bob Iger, who returned to the company in 2022 to navigate a turbulent period for the media giant. This move ends years of speculation regarding the succession plan for one of the most powerful positions in Hollywood.
The executive shake-up doesn't stop with the CEO's office. Dana Walden, the current Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, has been named President and Chief Creative Officer of the company. Together, DâAmaro and Walden will spearhead a new era for Disneyâs parks, streaming services, and film studios. According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, this leadership structure is designed to "ensure a seamless transition and drive long-term growth" across all divisions.
Bob Iger isn't heading for the exit just yet. He will remain with Disney as a senior advisor and board member through December 31, 2026. This extended stay is intended to provide stability as D'Amaro settles into the top job. Iger previously served as CEO from 2005 to 2020 before his brief retirement and subsequent return. Now, the torch is officially passed to the man who has spent years overseeing Disney's massive global theme park empire.
