Kristen Stewart has officially stepped behind the camera. Her feature directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, arrived on Video on Demand (VOD) platforms on Friday, March 27, 2026. The biographical psychological drama is based on the acclaimed 2011 memoir by author Lidia Yuknavitch.

The film stars Imogen Poots as Yuknavitch, capturing her turbulent journey through a traumatic past. The narrative explores heavy themes of survival, addiction, and sexuality, eventually showing how the protagonist finds her voice through the power of writing. The project first made waves during its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
