Meryl Streep is heading back to the small screen for a major new project. Netflix has officially handed out a straight-to-series order for an adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s 2001 best-selling novel, The Corrections. Streep will star as Enid Lambert, the persistent Midwestern matriarch determined to bring her fractured family together for one last Christmas at home.

The production features an award-winning creative team led by Cord Jefferson. Jefferson, who recently took home an Oscar for writing American Fiction, is set to direct all episodes of the limited series. This adaptation marks a significant milestone for the story, as Franzen himself is writing the script based on his National Book Award-winning source material.

While The Corrections previously faced a long road to the screen—including a 2012 HBO pilot that never aired—this Netflix iteration is moving forward with high expectations. The story spans decades and follows the lives of the Lambert family members as they grapple with personal failures, shifting cultural values, and the inevitable passage of time.
