Paramount Global is facing a new executive crisis as an internal investigation targets President of Paramount Skydance Jeff Shell. The probe, which is being handled by an outside law firm, centers on allegations that Shell leaked sensitive corporate secrets to professional gambler R.J. Cipriani. This development comes at a critical time for the studio as it navigates complex business transitions.
The investigation was reportedly triggered by a legal threat from Cipriani, who is also known as "Robin Hood 702." Cipriani claims that Shell betrayed a personal promise to greenlight a television series based on his life. During their interactions, Shell allegedly shared non-public information regarding Paramount’s $7.7 billion media rights deal with the UFC.
This is not the first time Shell has faced scrutiny over his professional conduct. In April 2023, he resigned from his position as CEO of NBCUniversal after an investigation confirmed an inappropriate relationship with a female employee. Now, his role at Paramount is in jeopardy just as the company navigates a new merger agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery.
