The 2026 Annapolis Film Festival officially begins today, March 26, bringing a star-studded lineup to Maryland’s capital. This year’s four-day event is headlined by the opening night screening of Power Ballad, a musical comedy starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Directed by John Carney, the film follows the unlikely bond between a wedding singer and a rock star, setting an upbeat tone for the festival’s 14th year.
Running through March 29, the festival features a curated selection of more than 70 films spanning various categories, including narrative features, documentaries, and shorts. Screenings and events are hosted at several landmark venues throughout the city, including Maryland Hall and The Graduate Hotel. Organizers at the Annapolis Film Festival have designed the program to highlight both international cinema and independent projects from local Maryland filmmakers.
Beyond the screenings, attendees can participate in the festival’s signature "Coffee Talks" and industry panels. These sessions offer behind-the-scenes insights from directors, producers, and actors. According to the official festival schedule, the weekend will also include intensive Q&A sessions following major screenings, allowing audiences to engage directly with the creators behind this year's most anticipated independent releases.
