Romance giant Harlequin is officially entering the world of short-form video. The publisher has announced a multi-year partnership with AI entertainment firm Dashverse to produce 40 animated microdramas based on its iconic romance titles. These bite-sized episodes are designed specifically for mobile viewing and will be distributed globally on platforms like DashReels.

The first production, titled A Fairy-Tail Ending by Catherine Mann, is scheduled to debut in April 2026. This collaboration aims to bring Harlequin's massive library of stories to a younger, tech-savvy audience that consumes content in short bursts. Each microdrama will feature animation powered by Dashverse's proprietary AI technology, allowing for a rapid production cycle for the ambitious 40-title slate.

Authors involved in the project will receive royalties for their work, ensuring creators benefit from the new digital format. The series will be monetized through a combination of advertisements and premium subscriptions. According to the agreement, Harlequin and Dashverse will continue to select popular romance novels for adaptation throughout the duration of the multi-year deal.
