Ryan Gosling has officially departed from the upcoming untitled "event film" directed by the Oscar-winning duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as the Daniels. According to reports from World of Reel and Screen Daily, the actor was forced to exit the project due to persistent scheduling conflicts. Universal Pictures is now actively searching for a replacement to lead the high-profile production.

The ambitious project, which carries a reported budget of approximately $150 million, was originally scheduled to begin principal photography in Los Angeles this summer. However, production timelines could not be adjusted to accommodate Gosling’s other professional commitments. Despite the loss of its primary star, the studio intends to keep the project on track for its established theatrical release on November 19, 2027.

The Daniels, who gained global acclaim for Everything Everywhere All at Once, signed a five-year exclusive deal with Universal in 2022. This film represents their first major follow-up under that partnership and remains a top priority for the studio. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the production is being treated as a major tentpole for the 2027 holiday season.
