The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, is entering a critical new phase. Investigators are currently reviewing fresh surveillance footage of a "mysterious vehicle" captured on a neighbor’s Ring camera near Guthrie's Tucson home. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC News that detectives are “definitely closer” to identifying a suspect after analyzing the video from the morning of the suspected February 1 abduction.

While the video provides a new lead, other forensic efforts have stalled. Authorities confirmed that DNA tests on a glove found two miles from the crime scene did not match the suspect. That suspect was previously seen on doorbell footage wearing a mask and carrying an Ozark Trail Hiker Pack. The Guthrie family continues to plea for help, offering a $1 million reward for Nancy’s recovery. “We believe she is still alive,” Savannah Guthrie stated on Instagram, as she reportedly prepares to return to her anchoring duties in New York.

The high-profile case has also triggered a massive influx of true-crime influencers and TikTok sleuths into the Catalina Foothills neighborhood. Local residents have complained about creators like Jonathan Lee Riches, known as “JLR Investigates,” and other streamers staging broadcasts near the Guthrie property. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has urged the public to report facts to the official FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI rather than engaging in neighborhood speculation.
