Metal fans nearly lost one of the genre’s most consistent forces. Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose recently sat down with Blunt Magazine to share a startling revelation: the band was on the verge of retirement. Rose admitted that less than two years ago, the Atlanta-based quintet had a "thick blueprint" for a farewell run. "We were kind of thinking that we were gonna land the plane a little bit," Rose told the publication, confessing that the emotional weight of ending their 30-year journey even brought him to tears.

Instead of calling it quits, the group behind hits like "Black" and "Enemy" chose to pivot in the opposite direction. Rose explained that a sudden shift in mindset led the band to double down on their commitment. Rather than parking the car, they decided to "put it all the way into drive." This renewed energy resulted in their upcoming 15th studio album, aptly titled One, which is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, through Napalm Records.

The new record, produced by longtime collaborator Michael "Elvis" Baskette, represents a "reignited" passion for the band members—Lajon Witherspoon, Clint Lowery, John Connolly, Vince Hornsby, and Rose. To support the release, Sevendust is launching a massive Spring 2026 North American tour alongside Atreyu and Fire From the Gods. The trek kicks off April 16 in Carterville, Illinois, proving that the band is far from finished. "If you really want to know what Sevendust sounds like in 2026, 'Is This The Real You?' gives you a good idea," guitarist John Connolly added regarding the album's lead single.
