Steve Carell is officially back on the small screen. His latest comedy series, Rooster, made its highly anticipated debut on HBO and Max on March 8, 2026. Carell leads the production as Greg Russo, a successful pulp fiction novelist who finds himself unexpectedly pulled into the messy personal life of his daughter on a college campus.

The series is the brainchild of powerhouse creators Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses. Lawrence, known for his work on Ted Lasso and Scrubs, brings his signature blend of heart and humor to this campus-based story. The plot centers on the dynamic between Greg and his daughter Katie, played by Charly Clive, as they navigate the trials of university life together.

Rounding out the star-studded ensemble is an impressive supporting cast. Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley, and Lauren Tsai all feature in the series. With the first episodes now available for streaming, Rooster marks a major addition to the HBO comedy lineup for the 2026 television season.
