Steve Carell is back on the small screen in a big way. His new comedy series, Rooster, officially premieres tonight, Sunday, March 8, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max. The series marks a high-profile collaboration between Carell and the creative minds behind hits like Scrubs and Ted Lasso.
In the series, Carell plays Greg Russo, a world-famous author who decides to shake up his life. He accepts a writer-in-residence position at a college to be closer to his daughter, Katie, played by Charly Clive. Katie is a professor at the school dealing with her own personal crisis, leading to plenty of awkward and heartfelt father-daughter moments on campus.
The show is the brainchild of creators Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses. The first season consists of 10 episodes, which will air weekly every Sunday. With Lawrence’s track record for blending humor and heart, Rooster is already one of the most anticipated releases of the spring season.
