Your monthly streaming bill might be getting heavier! Subscribers to top-tier platforms like Disney+ and Apple TV+ are facing significant price hikes, with some ad-free plans more than doubling in cost since 2020. This surge in 'streamflation' is leading many Americans to re-evaluate their digital budgets and even cancel subscriptions.
A recent analysis from DepositAccounts, a platform owned by LendingTree, reveals just how dramatic these increases have been. For instance, Disney+'s Premium ad-free plan, which was around $6.99 per month in 2020, has surged to $18.99 per month as of February 2026 – a staggering 171.7% jump. Similarly, Apple TV+, initially priced at $4.99 per month in 2020, has seen its standard plan rise to $12.99 per month by August 2025, marking a 160.3% increase.
This isn't just about a few services. Americans are now paying nearly 19% more for digital apps overall compared to 2020, according to DepositAccounts. On average, consumers are juggling about 4.5 digital subscriptions, spending approximately $84 per month, which totals over $1,000 annually. The rising expenses are clearly hitting home, with 37% of Americans reportedly canceling at least one paid subscription in the past six months, and nearly half (45%) admitting they overspend on these services.
