Lionsgate is officially keeping the doors open for more mystery. The studio has set a theatrical release date of December 17, 2027, for The Housemaid’s Secret, the highly anticipated sequel to its thriller hit The Housemaid. Sydney Sweeney is confirmed to return as the lead character, Millie, following the first film's success at the box office.
The production is adding significant star power with Kirsten Dunst joining the cast in a new role. Michele Morrone is also set to reprise his role from the first installment. Director Paul Feig returns to helm the project, working from a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine. The script is an adaptation of the second novel in the popular book series written by Freida McFadden.

Filming is expected to begin later this year as Lionsgate positions the sequel as a major anchor for its 2027 holiday slate. By securing a prime December window, the studio is signaling high confidence in the franchise's ability to draw audiences. The first film's blend of domestic suspense and viral popularity has made this follow-up one of the most watched developments on the studio's upcoming calendar.
