Fresh off his International Emmy win for Vir Das: Landing, comedian Vir Das is ready to give audiences a different kind of jolt. His production banner, Zazu Productions, has officially begun work on a new found-footage horror film titled Baara Number. This project marks a significant genre departure for Das, who is best known for his global stand-up specials and comedic roles.

Das isn't just taking a lead role in the ensemble cast; he is also stepping behind the camera. He will co-direct the film alongside Kavi Shastri, his long-time collaborator and creative partner. The production is scheduled to begin principal photography in Mumbai this June. By choosing the found-footage format, the directing duo aims to deliver a grounded, atmospheric experience that leans heavily into psychological depth.

While specific plot details for Baara Number remain under wraps, the film is expected to showcase a grittier side of Das's creative range. The move into the horror space follows a massive year for the performer, including his historic win at the 2023 International Emmy Awards. With the Mumbai shoot locked in for the summer, Zazu Productions is moving quickly to bring this experimental thriller to life.
