Wagner Moura is officially heading to 1980s Los Angeles. The Civil War actor has signed on to star in Flesh of the Gods, replacing Oscar Isaac in the upcoming vampire thriller from director Panos Cosmatos. Isaac reportedly had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts, paving the way for Moura to lead the film alongside Kristen Stewart.
Written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter behind Se7en, the film follows a married couple named Raoul and Alex. The pair spends their evenings navigating a high-octane world of glitz and glamour until they encounter a mysterious socialite who lures them into a surreal, nocturnal landscape. Producers Adam McKay and Betsy Koch are backing the project through Hyperobject Industries.

A24 has officially acquired the domestic rights to the film, which promises the same hyper-stylized aesthetic seen in Cosmatos’ previous cult hits like Mandy. With Moura and Stewart now set as the lead duo, the production is moving forward to capture the hedonistic energy of the vintage L.A. club scene. This marks another high-profile collaboration for Moura, who recently gained acclaim for his performance in the A24 hit Civil War.
