Kumail Nanjiani is officially heading to Southeast Asia for a stay at the world’s most chaotic hotel chain. HBO has confirmed that the Oscar-nominated actor will star in the upcoming third season of The White Lotus. This latest installment of the critically acclaimed anthology series will take place in Thailand, moving the production to high-end locations in Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui.

Nanjiani joins a sprawling ensemble of new faces for the Thai getaway. According to reports from TheWrap and Vulture, the cast will also feature Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, and Blackpink’s Lisa. While specific character descriptions are currently being kept secret, the series is expected to follow its signature format of tracking the complicated lives of wealthy travelers over a single week at a luxury resort.

Mike White, the creator behind the Emmy-winning franchise, is set to return as the sole writer and director for the third season. The move to Thailand follows previous settings in Hawaii and Sicily. By choosing Thailand, the production continues its trend of utilizing breathtaking global backdrops to explore the darker side of privilege and social dynamics.
