Pop superstar Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night, March 4, 2026, in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence. The arrest was made by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 PM local time in Westlake Village. Spears, 44, was subsequently booked into the Ventura County Sheriff's Office jail early Thursday morning, March 5, around 3 AM.

According to booking records, Spears, whose occupation was listed simply as "celebrity," was released just after 6 AM on Thursday. She was cited and given a court date of May 4 in Ventura County Superior Court. Law enforcement sources indicated she was by herself when pulled over and was taken to a hospital for a blood draw to determine her blood alcohol content. Her vehicle was also impounded.

The arrest comes shortly after Spears secured a legal victory, reportedly winning a permanent restraining order against a 51-year-old Louisiana man identified as Donald, who she claimed had been harassing her. As of Thursday morning, representatives for Britney Spears have not yet publicly commented on the arrest.
