London's West End bids farewell to the electrifying 'MJ the Musical' today, February 28, 2026. The hit production concludes its acclaimed run at the Prince Edward Theatre, having thrilled audiences with its vibrant portrayal of Michael Jackson's creative process during the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. The musical, featuring a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, celebrated a successful nearly two-year engagement since its opening in March 2024, when Tony winner Myles Frost originated the titular role.
The show garnered significant recognition, including the prestigious Gillian Lynne Award for Best Theatre Choreographer at the 2025 Olivier Awards. This honor was awarded to Christopher Wheeldon, who not only choreographed but also directed the production. Currently, Jamaal Fields-Green leads the London cast as MJ, a role he has also performed on Broadway and in the musical's national tour.
Fans who missed the London run will have future opportunities to experience the King of Pop's story on stage. 'MJ the Musical' is set to embark on an international Asian tour, launching in October 2026, before heading out on a U.K. tour in 2027.
