Fans of the popular 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' franchise can mark their calendars! Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll have officially announced that the highly anticipated anime film, 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea', will arrive in North American theaters on May 1, 2026. This exciting cinematic expansion for Rimuru and friends will be available in both its original Japanese with English subtitles and an English dubbed version across the United States and Canada.

Directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, with a screenplay by Toshizo Nemoto and Kikuchi, and based on the original story concept by Fuse, this new film is a standalone side story that unfolds after the events of Season 3 of the anime series. Animation studio Eightbit, known for its work on the series, brings this adventure to life, following Rimuru and his companions as they visit a private resort island and encounter a mysterious woman named Yura.

Before the new film's debut, fans will have another chance to catch the previous movie, 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond', which will have a special re-release in North American theaters on April 20, 2026. This re-release is part of Crunchyroll's Anime Nights program and will include an exclusive 10-minute sneak peek of 'Tears of the Azure Sea'. Additionally, the fourth season of the 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' anime series is set to begin streaming on Crunchyroll on April 3, 2026, offering even more content for dedicated viewers.
