Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made a special virtual appearance at the NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The couple appeared via a pre-recorded video message, filmed at their Montecito home, to present a significant award. Their cameo came just hours after concluding a two-day humanitarian visit to Jordan.
During their appearance, Harry and Meghan announced Dr. Mary Anne Franks as the recipient of the NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award. Dr. Franks was honored for her exceptional leadership and vital work with the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative. This prestigious award, established in 2022 in partnership with the couple's Archewell Foundation (rebranded as Archewell Philanthropies last year), recognizes individuals who are advancing digital civil rights and promoting technology equity.
The NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors event serves as a prelude to the 57th NAACP Image Awards, which is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026. These awards celebrate outstanding achievements by people of color across various creative categories, including film, television, music, literature, and podcasts.
