Fans of the popular hockey romance series Heated Rivalry can officially rejoice! Creators have confirmed that a second season is not only in the works but also has an expected release window of April 2027. Showrunner, writer, and director Jacob Tierney, alongside executive producer Brendan Brady, shared the exciting news during an appearance on CBS Mornings on Thursday.
Tierney assured viewers that more of the beloved series would be on their screens "as soon as humanly possible," with filming slated to begin in August 2026. The show, which premiered in November 2025 on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the U.S., follows the secret romance between rival professional hockey players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). Brady playfully encouraged fans to "enjoy the yearn" as they await the next installment.
Heated Rivalry quickly became a breakout hit, averaging over 10.5 million viewers per episode in the U.S. alone, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. The first season was based on Rachel Reid's bestselling "Game Changers" book series, and Season 2 is set to adapt Reid's novel The Long Game. Stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie are expected to return for the new season.
