Billy Porter is opening up about a harrowing medical crisis that nearly took his life last fall. Speaking on the Outlaws with TS Madison podcast, the Pose star revealed he was "dead for three days" in September 2025. The emergency began with an infected kidney stone that triggered a severe case of urosepsis.
The situation escalated rapidly, forcing doctors to place Porter on an ECMO life-support machine. "I was on ECMO for three days," Porter told host TS Madison, describing the intense battle to stabilize his failing organs. In addition to the internal infection, the actor faced a secondary crisis when he developed compartment syndrome, requiring emergency surgery to save his leg from potential amputation.
Porter credited his survival to the swift action of his medical team and his own resilience. He described the recovery as a "miracle" and expressed deep gratitude for his current health. The Tony and Emmy Award winner shared that the experience has given him a renewed focus on his life and work following the life-threatening ordeal.
