Sasha Calle is officially trading her cape for a crucifix. The The Flash breakout star has signed on to join Mike Flanagan’s upcoming The Exorcist film for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. This casting marks another major win for the project as Flanagan builds a powerhouse ensemble for his reimagining of the horror classic.
Calle joins a stacked lineup that already includes Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane. While specific plot details are still secret, the film is distancing itself from the 2023 release The Exorcist: Believer. According to The Playlist, this version is a standalone vision from Flanagan, who is also writing and producing the film through his Red Room Pictures banner.
The highly anticipated horror flick is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 12, 2027. With Flanagan at the helm—the filmmaker behind The Haunting of Hill House—audiences are expecting a significant tonal shift for the series. Bloody Disgusting reports that the addition of Calle solidifies the studio's commitment to a high-profile reset of the legendary franchise.
