On February 2, travelers at Harry Reid International Airport discovered a 2-year-old goldendoodle nicknamed JetBlue abandoned at a ticket counter. The pup was left behind after his owner was arrested on charges including animal abandonment and resisting arrest. Among the first responders to the scene was Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer Skeeter Black, who felt an immediate connection with the dog.

Following a mandatory 10-day hold at a local shelter, Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas took over the pup's care when his original owner failed to reclaim him. The organization was flooded with hundreds of adoption applications from across the country. However, they ultimately selected Officer Black, who had been checking on the dog's status since the day of the rescue.

"He’s just a sweet dog and he’s going to have a great home," Officer Black told FOX 10 Phoenix. The Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas expressed their excitement on social media, noting that the "full-circle moment" was the best possible outcome for the young dog. JetBlue is now officially settling into his new life with the Black family.
