The House of Mouse has officially found its next leader. The Walt Disney Company announced that Josh D’Amaro, the current Chairman of Disney Experiences, will become the company's Chief Executive Officer on March 18, 2026. The transition follows a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors, ending years of speculation about who would step into the role held by Bob Iger. "Josh is a visionary leader who has consistently delivered results across our parks and experiences," said James Gorman, Chairman of the Disney Board, in an official statement via the company's newsroom.
D'Amaro isn't the only executive moving into a new office this spring. Dana Walden, currently Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, has been named the company's President and Chief Creative Officer. This strategic move places Walden at the helm of Disney’s massive content engine, overseeing global programming and studio operations. Iger, who returned to the company in November 2022 to navigate a turbulent period, will remain as a senior advisor through December 31, 2026, to assist with the leadership handoff.
This transition marks a significant shift for the entertainment giant as it prioritizes long-term growth in its streaming and theme park divisions. D'Amaro is widely credited with the successful $60 billion expansion plan for Disney Parks and the integration of new technology into the guest experience. By elevating both D'Amaro and Walden, Disney signals a dual focus on physical experiences and world-class storytelling. Investors and fans alike are now looking toward March 18 as the beginning of a new era for the storied brand.
