Megan Moroney has reached a new career high as her third studio album, Cloud 9, officially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The project moved 147,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 78,000 in traditional sales. This achievement makes Moroney just the fifth female country artist in the last decade to top the all-genre album chart, joining Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, and BeyoncĂ©. "Not to be cliche but Iâm on cloud 9!" Moroney shared in a statement to MusicRow. "I have to give credit to my fans, theyâre the best in the world."
The chart dated March 7, 2026, also marked a historic moment for women in country music. For the first time since the Billboard Hot 100 launched in 1958, two country women simultaneously held the top spots on the singles and albums charts. While Moroneyâs album ruled the Billboard 200, Ella Langley's hit single "Choosinâ Texas" returned to No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a second non-consecutive week. According to The Guardian, this crossover success highlights a generational shift as streaming and social media drive female artists to the top of all-genre charts.
Moroneyâs presence is felt across the singles chart as well, with nine tracks from the 15-song album currently charting on the Hot 100. Leading the charge is "Beautiful Things" at No. 45, with the fan favorites "Medicine" and "Wedding Dress" holding positions at No. 64 and No. 94, respectively. The singer is now preparing to take these hits on the road for her 49-date "The Cloud 9 Tour," which is scheduled to kick off at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, on May 29, 2026.
