Influential rock band Faith No More appears to have reached the end of its road, according to recent comments from frontman Mike Patton. Speaking on Consequence's “Kyle Meredith With…” podcast on February 25, 2026, Patton reflected on their last live performance in 2016, admitting, “I didn't really think so at the time, but, yeah, maybe. And I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.” Music journalist Alan Cross also noted on February 26, 2026, that "it looks like it's over for Faith No More."

The band, which originally disbanded in 1998 and reunited in 2009, has been largely inactive since their final show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on August 20, 2016. Planned tours for 2020 and 2021 were initially postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later canceled as Patton stepped back to address mental health issues, including agoraphobia and depression. Keyboardist Roddy Bottum described the band as being on a “semi-permanent hiatus” in October 2024, while drummer Mike Bordin stated in April 2025 on the "Let There Be Talk" podcast that Patton was "clearly unwilling to do shows with" Faith No More due to other commitments.

Patton’s recent remarks provide a sense of closure that has been lingering for fans. He articulated his perspective on projects ending, saying, “I don't see it as a sad thing. I see it as being present and being able to really appreciate it while it's happening.” Bassist Billy Gould expressed uncertainty about the band's future in January 2025, noting they were in a "really weird spot." Bottum further cemented doubts in October 2025, stating, "I don't think anyone's sort of up for it at this point... I just don't see it happening again, honestly."
