Alternative rock veterans Nuclear Valdez are set to revisit their roots this spring with the release of a massive expanded edition of their album Present from the Past. Scheduled for release on April 10, 2026, via Tobies House Records and Sinical Records LLC, the newly remastered double CD collection marks a significant expansion of the album's original 2017 limited vinyl run.
The upcoming release boasts a total of 25 tracks, including 14 previously unreleased demos salvaged from the band's private archives by frontman Froilan Sosa. Fans of the Miami-based quartet—which includes guitarist Jorge Barcala, bassist Juan Luis Diaz, and drummer Robert Slade Le Mont—will also find an 8-page booklet featuring rare archival photos and a heartfelt tribute to the late John Tovar. Tovar, who passed away in May 2023, was a pivotal figure in the South Florida music scene and the manager who famously helped secure the band's initial deal with Epic Records.
Nuclear Valdez first gained national attention in 1989 with their debut album I Am I and the hit single "Summer," notably becoming the first all-Latino act to appear on MTV Unplugged. This new reissue of Present from the Past captures the raw energy of the band's post-major label era, providing a comprehensive look at their creative evolution. "To me, Nuclear Valdez is the best rock band that ever came out of Miami," Tovar previously told the Miami New Times, a sentiment this definitive collection aims to honor for longtime followers.
