Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has officially begun filming for the much-anticipated mythological epic, 'Ramayana: Part 2', in Mumbai. Kapoor, stepping into the pivotal role of Lord Ram, is dedicating the next few months to crucial sequences for the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film. He's currently sporting a clean-shaven look to align with his character's visual continuity for the grand two-part saga.

Adding more star power to the project, veteran actor Sunny Deol is slated to join the Mumbai shoot around March 20, 2026, taking on the powerful role of Lord Hanuman. This upcoming schedule is expected to be particularly significant, featuring multiple combination scenes between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, which are central to the narrative.

The accelerated filming for 'Ramayana: Part 2' stems from a strategic shift in Ranbir Kapoor’s busy calendar. His other major project, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love & War', initially set for a March 2026 production start, has been postponed. This delay is attributed to several factors, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali's recent health concerns, the film's technical complexity requiring extensive visual effects and aerial action sequences, and a strategic move to avoid a box office clash with 'Ramayana: Part One', which is slated for a Diwali 2026 release. 'Ramayana' is being produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, in association with Yash's Monster Mind Creations and DNEG, and also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
