The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced its highly anticipated list of nominees for the Class of 2026, featuring a broad spectrum of musical talent that promises to ignite passionate discussions among fans. Pop icon Mariah Carey, legendary Genesis frontman Phil Collins (nominated as a solo artist), heavy metal titans Iron Maiden, and R&B icon Luther Vandross are among the 17 artists hoping to earn a place in the prestigious Hall.
This year's ballot is notably diverse, with 10 artists receiving their very first nomination. These fresh faces include Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, INXS, New Edition, P!NK, Shakira, Jeff Buckley, and Wu-Tang Clan. Returning nominees like The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Oasis, Joy Division/New Order, and Sade also make the cut, with Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, Oasis, and Joy Division/New Order each on their third nomination. John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, commented on the list, stating, "This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture."
The selection process now moves to an international voting body of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. Fans also have a say, with a public fan vote open via rockhall.com and at the museum in Cleveland; these fan votes will be tallied to create one additional ballot. The final inductees for the Performer category, along with honorees in other categories like Musical Influence and Musical Excellence, are expected to be revealed in April. The induction ceremony is slated for the fall, with specific dates and locations to be announced later.
