Brazilian metal legends Sepultura have officially announced details for their upcoming farewell EP, 'The Cloud Of Unknowing,' slated for release on April 24 via Nuclear Blast Records. This final studio offering coincides with their ongoing 'Celebrating Life Through Death' farewell tour, giving fans one last taste of new music from the iconic band. The announcement also came with the release of a new single from the EP, titled 'The Place.'
Instead of a retrospective, 'The Cloud Of Unknowing' will feature four brand-new tracks, recorded with the band's current lineup: guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto, vocalist Derrick Green, and drummer Greyson Nekrutman. Nekrutman officially joined Sepultura in February 2024, replacing longtime drummer Eloy Casagrande. Guitarist Andreas Kisser mentioned that the EP was spontaneously recorded in Miami in January 2025, following a performance on the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise.
Vocalist Derrick Green shared insights into the lyrical themes behind the new single 'The Place,' explaining that it addresses immigrants seeking refuge and the complex transitions they face. The 'Celebrating Life Through Death' tour, which kicked off on March 1, 2024, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, is a global trek with support from bands like Exodus, Biohazard, and Tribal Gaze on its North American leg. The extensive tour is expected to conclude with a final show in São Paulo, Brazil, around October 2026.
