Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon is opening up about the professional repercussions she's faced in Hollywood due to her outspoken advocacy for Gaza. The veteran star revealed she's experienced an 'ousting' from the industry, leading to lost work and projects being pulled after her comments at a pro-Palestinian rally in November 2023.

During the rally in New York on November 17, 2023, Sarandon stated, “There are a lot of people that are afraid, that are afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence.” Just days later, on November 21, 2023, her talent agency, United Talent Agency (UTA), confirmed they had dropped her as a client.

Sarandon later clarified her remarks, acknowledging the phrasing was a “terrible mistake” and stating it incorrectly implied that Jews were unfamiliar with persecution. She reiterated her stance against both antisemitism and Islamophobia. Despite the clarification, the actress indicated that securing major Hollywood roles has become challenging, though she has found opportunities in England and Italy. Her experience highlights the ongoing tensions and professional impact for public figures taking strong political stances amidst the Israel-Hamas conflict.
