West Virginia is making a major mark on the global streaming stage. Fairmont-based production company Allegheny Image Factory recently saw two of its latest productions, "Gaslit by My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story" and "The Bad Guardian," soar into the Netflix Top 5 most-watched movies. The success comes after the studio returned its operations to the Mountain State, fueled by the 2022 reinstatement of West Virginia film tax incentives.
The studio’s recent hits features high-profile talent, with Melissa Joan Hart and La La Anthony starring in "The Bad Guardian," while Jana Kramer leads the cast of "Gaslit by My Husband." Co-founder Jeffrey Tinnell noted that the ability to produce these films locally has allowed the company to compete on a massive scale. Both films originally debuted on Lifetime before finding a second, record-breaking life on the Netflix platform this year.
Looking toward the future, Allegheny Image Factory is shifting its focus to the horror genre with a new original film titled "River." Directed by Robert Tinnell, the project is scheduled to make its debut at the Toronto Film Festival this fall. While industry insiders will get a first look at the festival, the production company has confirmed that a wider release for the film is currently slated for 2027.
