YouTube has officially overtaken the traditional titans of television and film in the race for advertising dollars. According to a new report from financial research firm MoffettNathanson, YouTube's advertising revenue for 2025 reached a record-breaking $40.4 billion. This milestone marks a historic shift in the media landscape, as the platform now generates more ad revenue than several of the world's largest entertainment conglomerates combined.
The report highlights that the collective advertising revenue for Disney, NBC, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Discovery totaled $37.8 billion in 2025. This is the first time YouTube has surpassed the combined earnings of these four major entities. In 2024, the collective ad revenue of these studios still outpaced YouTube, but a rapid surge in digital consumption has flipped the script in favor of the Alphabet-owned video giant.
Beyond its advertising dominance, YouTube's financial footprint continues to expand through its subscription services. MoffettNathanson estimates that YouTube's total revenue for 2025, including subscriptions, climbed to over $60 billion. These figures have led analysts to label YouTube as the world's largest media company, underscoring a permanent change in how global audiences and advertisers distribute their time and money.
