Director Zack Snyder, known for launching the DC Extended Universe with 2013's Man of Steel, has shared his perspectives on the evolving landscape of DC Studios under co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Snyder expressed his support for the new direction, particularly for Gunn's highly anticipated 2025 film, Superman.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Snyder wished the new team "all the best" and called James Gunn a "great steward of that world." He lauded Gunn's "singular storytelling," which he described as an ability to blend mythological pop culture with a point of view that is "both poignant and funny." Snyder also candidly referred to his own three-movie DCEU trilogy as "a weed that just won't die," suggesting it exists independently and isn't concerned with competing with Gunn's new vision. While not confirming specific plans, Snyder also indicated that discussions have taken place regarding the possibility of continuing his planned Justice League sequels in other forms, such as animation or comic books.

The new DC Universe officially kicked off with the animated series Creature Commandos, which debuted on Max on December 5, 2024. This will be followed by James Gunn's Superman, starring David Corenswet, set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Other projects in the pipeline for DC Studios' Chapter One: Gods and Monsters include Peacemaker Season 2 in late 2025, Lanterns in Spring/Summer 2026, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow on June 26, 2026.
