A new chapter for The Walt Disney Company officially began on March 18, 2026, as Josh D’Amaro took the reins as Chief Executive Officer. Following a unanimous board vote, the former head of Disney Experiences succeeded Bob Iger during the company’s annual shareholder meeting. Iger, who returned to the top spot in 2022 to stabilize the entertainment giant, will transition to a Senior Advisor role until his final retirement on December 31, 2026.
Alongside D’Amaro’s ascent, Dana Walden has been appointed to the newly created role of President and Chief Creative Officer. This historic move makes Walden the first woman to serve as Disney’s president. Under this restructured Disney Entertainment segment, Walden will oversee a unified division that brings together streaming, film, television, and the company's expanding gaming business. “The strength of Disney has always been the emotional connection between our stories and the people who love them,” Walden stated in a company release regarding the reorganization.
The leadership shuffle includes several other high-profile appointments aimed at streamlining Disney's creative engines. Debra OConnell has been named Chairman of the newly formed Disney Entertainment Television, while Alan Bergman continues as Chairman of Disney Entertainment, Studios. Additionally, Thomas Mazloum has stepped up to fill D’Amaro’s previous role as Chairman of Disney Experiences, and Paul Roeder has been promoted to Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, effective March 19.
