Alexandria “Lexi” Zahra Jones, the 25-year-old daughter of music icon David Bowie and supermodel Iman, recently opened up about her challenging adolescent years, including multiple rehab stints and what she described as "dehumanizing" treatment. In a vulnerable 20-minute video posted to her Instagram account (@_p0odle_) on February 18, 2026, Jones shared rare insights into her mental health struggles and the impact of growing up with two globally famous parents.

Jones detailed how pain led her to treatment multiple times as an adolescent. She began seeing a therapist at age 10, started self-harming at 11, and developed bulimia by 12. Her struggles intensified at 14, around the time her father, David Bowie, was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2014. This period became her "breaking point," leading her to turn to drugs and alcohol for escape. Her parents ultimately staged an intervention, with her father reading a letter of apology before two men forcefully removed her from their home and sent her to a wilderness therapy program.

Following three months in the wilderness program, Jones was transferred to a residential treatment center in Utah, where she remained for 13 months. She described the conditions as harsh and isolating, stating the experience felt "dehumanizing." Tragically, Jones was still in the treatment facility when David Bowie passed away from liver cancer on January 10, 2016, at the age of 69. While she was allowed to speak to him two days prior, she was not present during his final moments. Jones candidly acknowledged that while her childhood had extraordinary aspects, "having successful parents kind of only made it worse" for her feelings of unworthiness, though she emphasizes her journey is about processing trauma and understanding the systemic issues she faced.
