Beloved comedian Martin Short has postponed several upcoming comedy performances with longtime collaborator Steve Martin. The decision comes after the recent passing of Short's daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, at the age of 42.
A representative for the actor confirmed Katherine Short's death, stating, "It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world." Reports indicate Katherine Short was found deceased at her Hollywood Hills home on Monday, February 23, 2026, with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office determining her manner of death to be suicide.
The postponed shows for "The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short" tour include the Friday, February 27, 2026, performance at Milwaukee's Miller High Life Theatre and two shows on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis. Venues have confirmed that tickets for these dates will be honored for rescheduled performances, with further details to be announced.
