Veteran actor and comedian Martin Short has postponed several upcoming dates for his popular comedy tour, "The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short," following the devastating news of his daughter, Katherine Short's, passing. Katherine, 42, died on Monday, February 23, 2026. Law enforcement sources indicated that her death was by apparent suicide.

In a heartfelt statement, the Short family expressed their profound grief: “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.” Katherine was the eldest of three children adopted by Martin Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, who passed away in 2010.

The postponed shows include the Friday, February 27, 2026, performance at Milwaukee's Miller High Life Theatre, and two shows scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Minneapolis' Orpheum Theatre. Venues have cited "unforeseen circumstances" for the postponements, confirming that tickets will be honored for new, rescheduled dates. Katherine Short was a licensed clinical social worker, having earned degrees from New York University and the University of Southern California, and was known for her advocacy in mental health, including work with the nonprofit organization Bring Change 2 Mind.
