Convicted film producer Harvey Weinstein is shaking up his legal defense team as he prepares for his third New York rape trial. He has reportedly brought on a high-profile trio: Jacob Kaplan, Marc Agnifilo, and Teny Geragos. These attorneys are notable for their work representing Sean “Diddy” Combs and Luigi Mangione in their respective cases.
Kaplan, Agnifilo, and Geragos, all partners at the Manhattan firm Agnifilo Intrater, confirmed their new roles in court papers on Tuesday, February 25, 2026. They are taking over from Weinstein's longtime lawyer, Arthur Aidala, who will now focus on the former studio boss's appeals and civil matters. Weinstein spokesperson Juda Engelmayer stated, "Harvey believes that, after two prior trials on this matter, a recalibrated outlook and strategic approach offers the most effective path forward."
This new legal team brings experience from several high-profile cases. Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos notably represented Sean "Diddy" Combs, securing a split verdict and acquittals on some sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Additionally, Jacob Kaplan and Marc Agnifilo are representing Luigi Mangione in his state and federal cases related to the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Weinstein is due in court on March 4 for a status conference regarding the trial, which involves a charge that he raped hairstylist and actor Jessica Mann in a Manhattan hotel in 2013. The trial was initially postponed from a March 3 start and has not yet been rescheduled. At a hearing in January, Weinstein asserted he "never assaulted anyone" and conveyed that his "spirit was breaking" after nearly six years behind bars.
