Actor Shia LaBeouf found himself in legal trouble early Tuesday, February 17, 2026, during New Orleans' Mardi Gras festivities. The 39-year-old was arrested by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) on two counts of simple battery after an alleged fight at a business on the 1400 block of Royal Street, identified by multiple reports as the R Bar in the Marigny neighborhood.
According to police reports, LaBeouf was allegedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive inside the establishment. A staff member reportedly attempted to remove him, and once outside, LaBeouf allegedly struck one man multiple times with closed fists. After briefly leaving, he allegedly returned even more aggressive, hitting the same person again before punching a second man in the nose. Bystanders intervened and held him down until NOPD officers arrived around 12:45 a.m.
LaBeouf was transported to Touro Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries before being released and subsequently booked. TMZ published video footage purportedly showing moments of the altercation and LaBeouf receiving medical attention. He was later released on his own recognizance, with his next court hearing tentatively scheduled for March 19. Police records also indicate that LaBeouf allegedly used homophobic slurs towards victims and bystanders during the incident.
